Walking Through Buddhist Italy is a six-episode documentary by Valerio Millefoglie that, forty years after the founding of the Italian Buddhist Union, traces the path of awareness, transformation, and growth of the Buddhist community in Italy. A travel diary that outlines a geography of the unexpected: Tibetan and Zen monasteries appearing beyond the hills, Theravada centers opening gateways in historic town centers, and encounters with monks, nuns, and meditators who share their stories.
The program includes the screening of the third episode: Walking Through Buddhist Italy: From Lake to Lake, featuring Lama Michel and Massimo Pericolo (running time 40:57).
In this episode, the voices of Lama Michel, spiritual guide of the Kunpen Lama Gangchen in Albagnano, and rapper-meditator Massimo Pericolo echo from one shore of Lake Varese to the other. On one side, the Tibetan temple; on the other, the vision of a monastery foster home. Surrounding them are the voices of others met along the way, reflecting on the meaning of caring for oneself, all sentient beings, and the Earth.
Following the screening, Valerio Millefoglie will be in conversation with Alessia Gemma, Head of Communications at UBI, and Massimo Torrigiani, Head of Culture at UBI.
